Update on the Newsletter, into the future
Hi everyone,
I’m aware that there’s been, ah, a slight gap between this post and my last; and no, I didn’t fall into a well somewhere, I’ve held off writing here as I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do, now I know.
Without going into masses of detail - my personality type tends to be of the hermit variety, or the music-nerd monastic - I’ve decided to put the newsletter on hiatus, for a little while, most probably to return to it, when … I’m not so sure.
The plan is to return to it, but most probably in a different form, as I’m currently also expanding my focus as a journalist and as a writer - returning, for instance, to what I would call writing on politics: immigration/refugee policy and specifically immigration detention, something I specialised in for many, many years when I was in Australia. While also pushing forward long-form essays on music, among other areas of interest to write books (and more books). That’s the plan.
That said, I’m still writing for The Wire, among other locales: next issue I’ve got a couple of rap reviews on the Raw Poetic/Damu the Fudgemunk collab with one of my great musical heroes, Archie Shepp and also a MMG composite review of new albums from Iron Wigs (Sonnyjim, Verbal Kent, Vic Spencer); Marlowe (L’Orange and Solemn Brigham) and Skyzoo rapping on all things paternal.
If you’d like to continue hearing about my work, the best bet would be to follow me on Twitter - @quante_jubila, for all my archaeology posts, definitely, and the RSS function my site:

This will let you know when something new comes up, such as my essay on the wonderful Art Tatum from last week:
So once again, thanks for your support and keep in touch,
Madeleine
